Senior IT Project Manager for ERP Implementations

SWK Technologies is currently seeking a Senior IT Project Manager/ERP Implementer who will oversee the implementations of our various ERP systems. 

Candidates should have at least a solid five-year experience with: successful ERP implementations, project management, and consulting. Experience in Sage X3, ERP systems, manufacturing, distribution is preferred, as is professional certification (PMP), and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Systems, IT, Accounting, and/or Engineering.

Location: Preferably New Jersey/New York area, but we are open to candidates anywhere in the US, including Chicago, Santa Ana, Seattle, Phoenix, Syracuse, or other. Travel is required, so you should preferably be located near a major airport. Must be eligible to work in the US.

 essential duties

  • Develop and maintain project plans, project metrics, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Formulate, organize, and monitor interconnected projects.
  • Coordinate cross-project activities.
  • Lead and evaluate project managers and other staff.
  • Assume responsibility for the program’s people and vendors.
  • Assess program performance with an aim to maximize ROI.
  • Provide regular updates to management on critical issues.

Project Management

  • Define the scope of the project in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Create detailed work plans that identify and sequence activities needed to successfully complete a project.
  • Determine resources (time, costs, man-hours, etc.) required to complete a project.
  • Develop schedules for project completion that effectively allocates resources to activities.
  • Continually review project schedules with all affected stakeholders; revise the schedule as required.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure projects are on time and within budget.
  • Establish communication schedules to update all stakeholders on the projects' progress. 
  • Determine objectives and measures with which completed projects will be evaluated.
  • Suggest/develop Sage X3 project methodology and standards, and increase efficiencies. 
  • Work with project managers to create reusable tools that support methodology. 
  • Project Audits/Documentation
    • Supervise completion/sign-off process within methodology, and track milestone completion across portfolio.
    • Manage change control to ensure good change-control practices across projects.
    • Document changes and decisions during implementation process. 
  • Manage Resources
    • Negotiate resource allocation when in conflict, then coordinate with management for approval of resource allocation. 
    • Participate in pipeline management process with practice management to plan resource allocation and timeline for sales opportunities as they are closing. 
    • Collaborate with management and team to prioritize projects and identify resource or other conflicts. 
  • Project Portfolio - Risk Management and tracking of portfolio-wide risk factors. 
Project Consulting 
  • Manage, plan, and perform software implementation projects at clients' workplaces and/or remotely.
  • Assist clients—through advisory services like business process reviews, systems selections, and IT planning—in determining which business processes can and should be automated, and how these automated functions may be integrated into the rest of the business and infrastructure environment.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to resolve implementation issues and help clients set standards for software functionality.
  • Travel to and from client sites and SWK offices during off-business hours, as needed.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Identify business requirements and opportunities for business process improvement.
  • Assist during the sales process by preparing performance time estimates.
  • Identify opportunities for your personal skill development.
  • Participate in product review discussions within the practice, also identifying opportunities for add-on or complementary solutions.
  • Accurately ensure time entry against project completed on a timely basis.
  • Provide assistance with solution design and project methodologies.
  • Assist other PMs/Consultants with problem solving, and provide team support where required.
  • Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and resource planning meetings, if assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Core Competencies:  communication, customer service, flexibility, planning and organization, problem solving, project management, team-building, continuing professional knowledge

  • Reasoning Ability: Analyze information or data, complex operations planning, critical thinking and logic required to define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw conclusions, interpret information and/or deal with abstract variables, comprehend technical verbal and written communication, ability to convey complex technical ideas

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does have supervisory responsibilities. Position would mentor and direct software consultants.

  • Education - Experience - Certifications: Two-year college degree required, four-year college degree preferred. 3-5 years of project management experience required and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Accounting knowledge and experience. Software certifications as required per practice.

  • Language Skills: Should possess the ability to create, read, and interpret (in English) documents, including business letters and manuals, reports, and technical data.  Should also be able to speak effectively (good diction) before small groups of employees and clients (both in person and via telephone).        

  • Working Conditions & Travel: This position will generally work under normal office working conditions, but is subject to the working conditions at client locations. Due to the location of our many offices and expansive client geographic locations, this position requires travel.

  • Physical Ability: Sitting, walking, driving a vehicle, vision, hand and finger use such as typing and computer use. Must possess valid driver’s license and a minimum insurance amount.
