Project Manager - Sage X3

SWK Technologies is currently looking for a Sage X3 project manager who will oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of a specific short-term and long-term software projects that have specific budgets, timelines, and deliverables.

This position has a minimum expectation of 40+ hours per week, beginning with normal business hours. It is expected that the employee will regularly be required to work beyond normal business hours due to business needs, client needs, and travel.

essential duties

Project Management

  • Define the scope of the project in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  • Determine the resources (time, costs, man-hours, etc.) required to complete the project.
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
  • Continually review the project schedule with all stakeholders who will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required.
  • Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the project is on time and within budget.
  • Establish a communication schedule to update all stakeholders on the progress of the project.
  • Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
  • Suggest/develop Sage X3 project methodology and standards and increase efficiencies.
  • Work with project managers to create re-usable tools to support the methodology.
  • Project Audits/Documentation
    • Supervise completion/sign-off process within methodology and track milestone completion across the portfolio.
    • Change control management and ensure good change control practices across the projects.
    • Document changes and decisions during implementation process.
  • Manage Resources
    • Work to negotiate resource allocation when in conflict, and then coordinate with management for approval of resource allocation.
    • Participate in pipeline management process with practice management to plan resource allocation and timeline for sales opportunities as they are closing.
    • Collaborate with management and team to prioritize projects and identify resource or other conflicts.
  • Project Portfolio - Risk Management and tracking of portfolio-wide risk factors.
Project Consulting 
  • Manage, plan, and perform software implementation projects at clients' workplaces and/or remotely within the scope of the job.
  • Assist clients—through advisory services like business process reviews, systems selections, and IT planning—in determining which business processes can and should be automated, and how these automated functions may be integrated into the rest of the business and infa-structure environment.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to resolve implementation issues and help clients set standards for software functionality.
  • Travel to and from client sites and SWK offices during off-business hours, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Non-essential Duties

  • Identify business requirements and opportunities for business process improvement.
  • Assist during the sales process by preparing performance time estimates.
  • Identify opportunities for your personal skill development.
  • Participate in product review discussions within the practice, also identifying opportunities for add-on or complementary solutions.
  • Accurately ensure time entry against project completed on a timely basis.
  • Provide assistance with solution design and project methodologies.
  • Assist other PMs/Consultants with problem solving, and provide team support where required.
  • Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and resource planning meetings, if assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Core Competencies:  communication, customer service, flexibility, planning and organization, problem solving, project management, team-building, continuing professional knowledge

  • Reasoning Ability: Analyze information or data, complex operations planning, critical thinking and logic required to define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw conclusions, interpret information and/or deal with abstract variables, comprehend technical verbal and written communication, ability to convey complex technical ideas

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does have supervisory responsibilities. Position would mentor and direct software consultants.

  • Education - Experience - Certifications: Two-year college degree required, four-year college degree preferred. 3-5 years of project management experience required and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Accounting knowledge and experience. Software certifications as required per practice.

  • Language Skills: Should possess the ability to create, read, and interpret (in English) documents, including business letters and manuals, reports, and technical data.  Should also be able to speak effectively (good diction) before small groups of employees and clients (both in person and via telephone).        

  • Working Conditions & Travel: This position will generally work under normal office working conditions, but is subject to the working conditions at client locations. Due to the location of our many offices and expansive client geographic locations, this position requires travel.

  • Physical Ability: Sitting, walking, driving a vehicle, vision, hand and finger use such as typing and computer use. Must possess valid driver’s license and a minimum insurance amount.
